This timeless tale written by Hans Christian Andersen tells the comic adventures of a tin soldier accidentally knocked off the toy shelf, and of two lovable, lonely mice who inadvertently place the soldier in danger, then set out to rescue him and return him to the music box ballerina.

Fairy King 1988

Jack has moved to Hokkaido to get treatment for an illness, but he's lonely and unhappy. One night a man on a horse rides through his window to help him. For a reason he doesn't understand, Jack instantly knows the man's name and feels they've met somewhere before. The man, Cu Chulainn, tells Jack to open the moonlight shadow window, which leads him to Nymphidia, the world of Midsummer Night's Dream, whose inhabitants are waiting for a new Fairy King Based on a manga from 1978 by Ryoko Yamagishi.

The Island of Nevawuz 1978

An unknown, tucked-away, medieval island is threatened by the advent of big business. A wealthy business man wants to develop the untouched island, which could then be ruined by the subsequent pollution.

Black Jack 1993

This dark medical drama tells the story of the ominous and mysterious world of underground medicine as Black Jack risks his life to cure some of the most bizarre diseases imaginable, even if it means breaking every law in the process.

Ex voto 1989

An extremely obscure minute-long short by the Brothers Quay in 1989. Animation appears to be done in 'Cutout' style, is abstract and plotless - more a moving painting than anything else. Featured on the 'Inner Sanctums' blu-ray boxset featuring a vast collection of shorts by the Quay brothers.

Gusla or the Spirits

This is a surreal trip through a gorgeously animated landscape of chickens, pierogies and Lenin. Adrienne returns to Poland to visit her grandmother, aunt and uncle. While there she hears all manner of stories about the country’s communist past. In the heart of the home—the kitchen—ghosts of old, both real and imagined, are confronted, reworked and released.
